My Chinese friend Pa Chin (born Li Yaotang) great writer and poet, nominated for the Nobel Prize, who died in October 2005 to more than a hundred years, he would have appreciated the work of Francesco Bosso. Boxwood interested in ethnology and the relations between nations presents us with its icons all humanity, sensitivity and delicacy of these.
His images, with the depth of the tones and the ability to merge man with the landscape, remind me in some ways those of Salgado I hosted Sicof and I was honored to meet and follow on many occasions including the major exhibition Arles.

Do not expect rivers of colorful bicycles and armies of people upside down in the streets, doing morning exercises on the sidewalks of Beijing or Shanghai. This is not the China that has seen and photographed Francesco Bosso in his lengthy report that has lasted several years and I wanted to show you a taste, these days, Space design, museum & library Warehouse Cargo … episodes of a journey that his images printed on paper to the jelly of ‘silver, recalling with intensity, a bit‘ like the pages of Tiziano Terzani.
Images that speak to peoples stories, minorities, religions, as well as episodes of everyday life. Men and women Francesco Bosso met and known, emerging from the routes canons to undertake a ‘human adventure, that his photos return generating immediate involvement.

… China of Francesco Bosso is instead still, almost unpredictable, mysterious. As from the rational point of view the recognition of the immense size and the inevitable internal diversification in this country, psychologically we all allowed to reduce it to a now stereotypical yesterday the crowd that filled monochromatic walk or bike through the streets of Beijing or Shanghay, today’s flood of signs and advertising on the new skyscrapers that has arisen. Francesco Bosso choose, instead, into a more authentic that comes from his attending places but also a deliberate choice, to deepen the reality with the powerful tool that it is the camera to bring it out in all its contradictions. …
Rarely Boxwood focuses on landscapes, but when it does manage to point out – as standard on the beautiful terraces, to give just one example – the aesthetic sense that was already in the works of classical painting done in shades that contrasts and atmosphere labile rather than realistic stories …

THE DENSITY OF WHITE SHOW
INAUGURAZIONE: venerdì 28 Marzo ore 18,30 PERIODO : 28 Marzo / 6 Aprile ORARIO ESPOSITIVO: 8.30 / 17,30 SEDE ESPOSITIVA: Palazzo Coelli, piazza Febei,3 – Orvieto … luoghi dal solido impatto naturistico, progenie monolitica che impone la sua stazza arcaica in una costante strategia della resistenza. Il mondo diventa omogeneo davanti agli occhi del fotografo: dagli Stati Uniti alle Seychelles, dall’Italia alle montagne dell’Engadina, senti un filo (bianco in questo caso) che cuce le diverse geografie in una coerente disciplina dello sguardo. Le distanze si assottigliano sotto il respiro visivo dell’autore, scompare ogni fisionomia sociale a favore di un’omogenea disposizione planetaria. Diversi luoghi come capitoli coscienti dello sguardo lento, profondo, razionale: per narrare un’epica planetaria che suona con la percussione della pietra, le corde degli alberi, i fiati del vento, i tasti bianconeri del mare. E’ la musica visuale dell’entropia, il gancio armonico che accarezza il Pianeta mentre respira dai suoi molteplici spazi d’ossigenazione. Luoghi specifici che appartengono agli immaginari letterari di una Terra dai tratti alieni, straniera a noi stessi in quanto gigantesca, scenografica, fuori dai confini del normale. A modulare i dettagli ci pensano le gamme ascetiche del grigio, piccole variabili che richiamano il Glenn Gould e le sua variazioni su Bach. Ci sono spostamenti minimi che ragionano con la logica del tessuto, come se le superfici fossero leggere e sottili, fogli di seta su cui l’atmosfera incide i segni di una vecchiaia eterna. Le immagini di Bosso raggelano e al contempo scaldano, somigliano al ghiaccio bollente che brucia quando scende sotto certe temperature. Ci vedo l’ambiguità folgorante che solo la Natura può permettersi, una bellezza calma ma mai immobile, in attesa che il milione si confonda col miliardo, che il miliardo si mescoli con l’infinito. Bosso ferma gli istanti e li rende momenti prolungati, ne scova la natura meditativa e una specie di coscienza del tempo cosmico. Gianluca Marziani
